The Department of Sport Science and Kinesiology/USI is located in the Castle of Rif.  The castle, built in the 16th century, was bought by the University and the Province of Salzburg in 2003 and adapted for academic purposes. In October 2004 the facilities could already be inaugurated. The University of Salzburg is proud to have a sport scientific campus with such a unique ambient. Apart from a big lecture hall for 100 people, a seminar room and the staff’s offices also the department’s library and the Christian Doppler Laboratory ‚Biomechanics in Skiing’ are to be found in Rif Castle.


The Department of Sport Science and Kinesiology/USI has two big lecture halls and five seminar rooms. All these rooms are equipped with a complete multimedia system, like video beamer, sound system, DVD and VHS. The premises are located in both Rif Castle and the Haus Rif of the ULSZ.
